Five things about living in the city

1. A flattened, dessicated rat corpse has been lying in the vicinity of my bus stop for the past couple of days. Today it had acquired a cigarette butt. I keep forgetting to bring a plastic bag so I can transfer it into a trash can.

2. Earlier this week, some people were filming a movie in the train station. My main concern was that they were blocking access to the women's bathroom, though you couldn't tell until you got close. Luckily, there is another bathroom far across the station.

3. Some truck or piece of equipment kept going "beep beep beep" in a shrill way every few minutes when I was trying to go to sleep.

4. I live less than a block from three restaurants. Extend that to two blocks, and it's four plus a takeout place. I've lived there for maybe ten years, and have never been to one of the closest ones.

5. This morning and yesterday, there was a detour on 20th Street. The wrong buses kept going down Walnut Street. I found this surprisingly disconcerting.
