state of the me

1. It is now really autumn; trench coat and wool socks weather. Also, raining.

2. Philadelphia is suffering from World Serius Interruptus, with last night's game suspended because of rain. The mood is...interesting.

3. I'm very glad there's no rehearsal tonight, because I am tired. I couldn't wind down Sunday night after our concert, so had little sleep, then last night Tom Purdom had an extra free ticket to see the Chamber Orchestra do Haydn and Rameau and Lully (fun, dancey). I was then coerced into watching a couple innings of the ball game in the lobby of the Kimmel Center, with other concert goers and performers. That was kind of fun, but it was cold and raining, and I didn't have an umbrella, so was a bit soggy by the time I got home. And again couldn't get to sleep immediately. Of course, for me, "not enough sleep" is anything less than eight hours.

4. My head is still full of Whitacre at odd moments. Most moments, actually. This post-concert replay gets very wearisome after a while.

5. I'm starting to feel guilty about this break from writing. Yes, yes, I know I deserve a rest after two novels, but it's far too easy to not-write. I have to push myself back into it, every time.
