this week tuesday is like friday

Rough evening (outside causes). Didn't write, didn't read, but did watch several episodes of Drawn Together in a row. It's a "reality" show featuring animated character stars, with an adult sensibility and heavy doses of parody. The first episode addresses racism: Clara, the [white, Disney-style] princess, initially takes Foxxy Love [essentially Valerie from "Josie and the Pussycats," who was black] for a servant, and it goes downhill from there.

Foxxy finally loses her anger, temporarily, in a WTF reaction when Clara reveals she thinks black people have blowholes that can be blocked by the plastic rings of six-packs. Foxxy then kisses her in the hot tub, and they share a Disney-style duet.

Clara later has doubts, which lead to her trying to get Foxxy voted off the show. She then changes her mind again, but in calling for votes for Foxxy, it turns into a faux slave auction, which angers Foxxy, which leads to a fight between the two women, watched with glee by the males, and of course another kiss, ditto.

Other characters include Xandir the [gay] videogame hero, the perverted Captain Hero [Superman type], a parody of Spongebob Squarepants, a crude internet cartoon called Spanky Ham, a black-and-white 20s icon named Toot Braunstein, and a violent version of Pikachu called Ling-Ling who speaks faux Japanese (I distinctly heard French in one of his/its lines). Ling-Ling features in the Asian racism episode, and of course Xandir stars in the "coming out" episode.

If you like sick humor, this show might be for you.

off soon

My office is closing at 2 pm today, yay! I am not sure if I will have the chance to check email before I leave for Readercon on Thursday morning. I'll be back Monday.
