I spent a lot of time this weekend drilling the Church Slavonic diction - there are some bits I find extremely tricky because my mouth is convinced there are too many consonants in too little time. It seems to go better if I don't think about it too hard, but only if I've drilled it a lot first.
You don't have to read the rest. It's me going nuts about my schedule, as I sometimes do.
Dress rehearsal #1 is Wednesday and #2 is Friday. They're at the Basilica where we'll be singing, so it's a bit more of a trek, which means I won't be able to squeeze in a set of intervals between dayjob and dinner on Wednesday. There's not really a good direct bus or subway, and I'm not sure how long it's going to take me to get out there from dayjob.
Thursday and Friday, I have training classes downtown, which is good because that's closer to the Basilica (and away from my desk!) for Friday, but bad because if I want the gym on Thursday I have to go back across town, and I suspect I really, really won't be in the mood for the hassle. I will probably want to just go to bed early. But good because the classes start a little later than dayjob, so maybe I can get a little extra sleep.
So this week is going to be light on the exercise; I am stating that now so I can accept it. Instead, I will get lots of standing for hours on a stone floor and sleep-deprivation.
