I survived!

I survived another Mother's Day! Ten years since my mom passed, but the day still makes me sad. And weirdly angry. Perhaps because the advertising is so relentlessly focused on what you have now, instead of both what you have now and what you have had, or might have in the future.

*hugs* Mom and Dad both lost their mothers since last Mother's Day. So I called to wish them the Suckiest Mother's Day Ever.

Poem read at Granny's funeral:

She is gone

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

I can't believe it has been 10 years. If you'd asked me, I would have frowned in concentration and said maybe 6.

Let us know if you want to spend Father's Day with the monkeys and me.

Day trip? Linvilla? Doylestown? We haven't been to Doylestown in ages. The girls miss Linvilla desperately. I promised to take them yesterday and then I was so exhausted from 3 hours of sleep because of anxiety-induced insomnia that I reneged and they are so disappointed that they are hiding it from me out of consideration.

If we go to Linvilla, do I have to tell the story about the Sundance Film Festival again? Still not sure why there had to be a house built in the middle of that story....

You have to tell that story no matter where we go and what we do.
