Latin vomiting!

"Et imperavit Dominus pisci, et evomuit Jonam!" (And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited up Jonah!)

We read Giacomo Carissimi's oratorio "Jonas" last night--text here--and it was a lot of fun. It was the first time I'd ever gotten to sing the word "vomited." In any language.

We're also doing Carissimi's "Jephte," along with David Ludwig's Hannukah Cantata, which was a commission of my choir back in 2007. Why a Hannukah Cantata in April? Because David needs a recording of it.

Our rehearsal schedule is pretty condensed for this one, but I'm actually glad because it means we'll be done well before I leave for WisCon.
