Lyricfest performances

I know, I know, I always go on and on about preparing for concerts, but then I never talk about them much afterwards. That's because I'm exhausted afterwards, mentally more than anything.

Both performances went well. I think the Sunday afternoon one was best, but that might be due to my subjective experience, since on Sunday I'd had enough sleep and enough lunch and a day to recover, whereas Friday night I took the train straight from a long day of work, hiked to the church in the rain, and never got a real dinner, all followed by a "warm-up" that lasted almost an hour. Sometimes, conductors get a little overenthusiastic.

I haven't seen any reviews yet, but Tom Purdom and [profile] camilleishere both attended and told me it was a lot of fun.

Next up, Schütz (German, roughly contemporary with Monteverdi) and Distler (German, early 20th century). I've never sung either composer, so am excited!
