My reading is wacky right now.

I totally cannot concentrate on any one book right now. Here are the books I have in progress, not counting the ones that are sort of in progress but I haven't touched in a week.

The Sublime and Spirited Voyage of Original Sin by Colette Moody. Lesbian pirates. I swear I will finish it before the end of the month.

In the Garden of Sin by Louisa Burton - more sin? This is erotica with supernatural creatures. I'm reading and re-reading various bits of it, but am not sure if I'm going to blog about it.

Flashman in the Great Game by George MacDonald Fraser. I have to be in the right mood for Flashman.

Fanfiction - currently, a Highlander: The Raven story that does not have Amanda but does have Methos and Joe. And Nick Wolfe.

Plastic: A Toxic Love Story - I mentioned this one the other day. I really get involved in it, then I forget about it for a few days as my mood changes.

And finally, I actually finished Angela Brazil's The Luckiest Girl in the School, but also downloaded all the rest of them from Project Gutenberg and I expect I will be reading a lot of them. Like, a lot. Maybe I'll do a blog post eventually. This was the fault of [personal profile] lnhammer, I think.

What are you reading? Or not-reading?

In other news, The Maw said last night that she misses you and wants to have fun with you again. I said I'd let you know.

Brazil would indeed be me, though I spell my name with only 2 ems.

I've been hyper-jumpy too. Books I've read anything of since this weekend include, in chronological order of last reading anything from:

Clarissa, Richardson
A Fortunate Term, Brazil
The Phoenix in Flight, Smith & Trowbridge
Selected Poems, Hugo
The Trumpeter of Sakkingen, von Scheffel
Philis, Lodge
The Civil Wars, Daniel
Poems and Ballads - First Series, Swinburne

So, two Elizabethan poets, two continental Romantic poets, a Victorian post-Romantic poet, a schoolgirl story, a space opera, and a thick slab of a classic novel.

(Realization about Clarissa: it takes place entirely in a single calendar year, with the bulk of the letters between March and early October. It's a bit late to start, but reading a given day's letters would make an interesting project.)

ETA: WOAH! A Fortunate Term was released only two weeks ago, and it already has over 8 times the downloads of any other Brazil novel?

Fixed typo! I have EXORDIUM, too - looking forward to that.

I'm of two minds whether to reread Exordium as the new editions come out or wait until I have the complete binge available.

I didn't read it first time around, so am pretty excited.

I really liked the second volume especially. It does things I hadn't seen in space opera before, though I've seen a couple since then do something similar.

Larry, I hope you go ahead and read it now rather than waiting; I'd love to hear what you think of the changes we've made. Sherwood and I are enjoying getting deeper into the world, much as we did when turning the original screenplay into the first edition, although the changes this time around aren't as extensive.

And there are two new characters!

*catching up*

I am indeed getting sucked into the world. And finding the entry much easier than before.

I hope you do a Brazil post -- I'd love a discussion. The Luckiest Girl in the School is not my favorite, but it's one of the better ones, and a good starter for her.
