Why, yes, I am doped up on antihistamines. It doesn't seem to matter today.
Rehearsal went great last night - we finally had copies of the Ascension Oratorio, which oddly had the opening choral movement printed after the ending one. Like, who would want to leave that cool movement out? We opened all the windows, singing Bach into the night. Well, into the street and parking garage that are behind the church! It was still really stuffy and hot. Our conductor let us go at 9:30 pm, half an hour early. Outside, it was cooler, thank goodness, though I still felt icky until I'd walked halfway home. My friend in the soprano section, whose mother died last week (a few days from age 95), was in pretty good spirits, considering; she'd finally gotten enough sleep. I remember viscerally how comforting it was to come back to rehearsal and be joyful again, for a few hours.
I am going to see Chanticleer tonight! I haven't seen them perform live since I was in college, though I have lots and lots of recordings.
Over on the pro blog, my personal manifesto on "finding" time to write.
