progress report

I haven't had a progress report in a while because, umm, I haven't been writing. But I wrote 3K this weekend, ~1660 on Saturday and 1550 on Sunday. The whole manuscript is over 70K now. I should be done in 15-20K (my manuscripts always get longer in revisions). I drafted the cutlass battle!

It's hard to find cutlass battles on YouTube. I did find one, that lasts 37 seconds. It was pretty cool. Am not sure it helped, but at least it looked cool.

I need to decide how graphic to be about the battle's outcome. I suspect less graphic is probably more suited to this book, even though I like writing about injuries and gore...I don't think I'm that bloodthirsty, it's just that you can use really dramatic vocabulary and all that. Or maybe I've seen too many action movies.

Went to gym this morning for cardio only, since I'm seeing the trainer tomorrow morning and that will take care of my muscles. I only have a couple more sessions. I have to decide if I want to pay for more sessions next semester, or be on my own for a few months. I don't think I'm ready for a Pilates class yet, plus a class would necessitate me making schedule adjustments, which I don't feel like dealing with right now.

I've also started thinking about the second book on my current contract. I'm not sure if I'll have to turn in chapters for it, or just a synopsis as I did last time. I do know that I want it to be another WWI book. I hope that's what my editor wants, too. If not, I need a backup plan.
