John Carter - AKA A Princess of Mars

I saw John Carter last night, in 3-D, and it was not half-bad. The visuals, especially the design, were meticulously elaborate. I felt the 3-D action took away from looking at the awesome flying ships somewhat - action in 3D always blurs a little, to my eyes.

The acting was good and there was quite a lot of humor that was actually, well, humorous.

The theater was having a discount night so it was very crowded and more noisy than I really wanted, but that IS part of the moviegoing experience, isn't it? I do wish people wouldn't text or whatever during movies. The lit screens, even from a few seats away, are painful when your eyes are adjusted to the dark.

Would you have paid full price for the experience though?

Here, to see the standard version of the flick, not 3-D which is much more, it would cost 13 dollars. There are very very very few movies that are worth spending 13 dollars which then includes all that time among rude people.

For me, the deciding factor was a friend wanted to go - I didn't realize the cheaper price until we got there.

Now I know!
